Our 2026 Office Electricity Is Covered by Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin_

We use Alexela Rohesärts and have 13 MWh of renewable electricity Guarantees of Origin cancelled for our 2026 office consumption. Here is what the evidence proves, and what it does not.

Software companies do not operate without physical resources. Our work depends on computers, networks, cloud services and an office where people can work together. Electricity is only one part of that footprint, but it is a part we can measure and address directly.

For 2026, we use Alexela Rohesärts for the electricity consumed in our Tallinn office. Through the service, renewable energy Guarantees of Origin have been cancelled in a volume that matches our expected annual office use.

The confirmed volume is 13 MWh. Based on our current consumption, this covers the full 2026 office electricity use with a buffer.

What the Elering statement confirms

Elering issued cancellation statement number 1,182,773 on 09.07.2026. The statement records:

  • 13 cancelled Guarantees of Origin;
  • a total volume of 13 MWh;
  • a consumption period from 01.01.2026 to 31.12.2026;
  • Solutional OÜ as the actual user;
  • the Lelle 24 office building as the certificate recipient;
  • consumption verification as the purpose of cancellation.

The statement also confirms that the Guarantees of Origin have been cancelled and cannot be reused or transferred to another party. This matters because the same renewable energy attribute must not be claimed by several consumers.

The certificates listed in the statement relate to renewable electricity produced in Estonia from biomass based on wood. The production period was April 2025, and the listed production unit was BEJ block 11. The statement records that the electricity did not receive investment support or production support.

What a Guarantee of Origin means

A Guarantee of Origin is an electronic certificate used to prove the source of energy to a final customer. One certificate represents one megawatt-hour of energy. Elering describes its purpose as proving the origin of the electricity consumed by a customer. The Association of Issuing Bodies describes the same system at the European level.

This is an accounting and disclosure mechanism. It does not mean that the individual electrons reaching our office can be traced to one named production unit at every moment. Electricity from many producers is mixed in the grid. The certificate system makes the renewable production attribute unique, transferable and, after cancellation, assigned to a specific consumer and period.

For that reason, our claim is deliberately precise:

13 MWh of renewable electricity Guarantees of Origin have been cancelled for Solutional's 2026 office electricity consumption.

What we are not claiming

We are not claiming that Solutional is carbon neutral, climate neutral or emissions free. The evidence applies to electricity used in our Lelle 24 office during the stated period. It does not automatically cover:

  • employee travel or commuting;
  • cloud infrastructure and external data centres;
  • purchased equipment and its manufacturing footprint;
  • heating, services or other energy used elsewhere in our supply chain;
  • the full environmental impact of our business.

Being clear about the boundary is important. Broad environmental labels are easy to publish but difficult for a client or procurement team to verify. A defined quantity, a defined period and a public document are more useful.

Why this matters in a software partnership

For many large companies, sustainability requirements increasingly extend to suppliers. Procurement questionnaires may ask what electricity a partner uses, whether claims are supported by evidence and which parts of the business the evidence covers.

Our clients should not have to rely on a vague promise. They can see:

  • the exact volume;
  • the covered period;
  • the named user;
  • the energy source recorded in the certificates;
  • the registry operator that confirmed the cancellation;
  • the underlying PDF statement.

This does not make us the most sustainable company in the market. It shows how we prefer to work: make a concrete decision, define its scope and keep the evidence available.

A practical operating choice

The 13 MWh coverage is not a substitute for reducing unnecessary consumption. The first priority remains using resources sensibly. The Guarantee of Origin coverage addresses the source attribute of the electricity that remains necessary for our office work.

We intend to review office consumption and renewable electricity coverage each year. When we communicate future environmental actions, we will aim to use the same approach: a specific scope, a measurable result and evidence that a client can inspect.
